Linda Marsh-Ives spent her childhood in Maine and Illinois, and came to Alaska in 1966 as a teenager with her family. After circumnavigating the globe on World Campus Afloat (Chapman College), she received her Bachelors in Performance Music from University of Alaska Anchorage. She is a protégé of the well-known American portrait painter Frank Covino.

Linda has lived in Homer and Girdwood as well as Anchorage. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, biking, and cross-country skiing, and goes on outdoor painting excursions, collecting photos and sketches.

In addition to work with Troubadora, Linda plays cello in the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra, the Anchorage Opera, and is a member of the string quartet Ensemble in Black and White. An early music enthusiast, she has maintained the Polaris Early Music Ensemble since 1998. She teaches cello, beginning violin, beginning viola, all sizes of recorders, and beginning guitar.
